Pest control in Sacramento
Yellowjackets and wasps in Sacramento homes
Yellowjackets nest in the ground, in wall voids and under eaves. By late summer a nest can be large, and the insects get bolder around food and drinks outside.
Paper wasps build the open, umbrella-shaped nests under eaves and fence rails. They are less aggressive, but a nest by a door is a problem.
Honeybees are different, and we don't treat them. If you aren't sure what you have, call before you disturb it.
Signs you have it
- Insects going in and out of a hole in the lawn or a gap in the siding
- A gray paper nest under an eave, fence rail or in a shrub
- A buzzing in a wall that gets louder in the afternoon
- Wasps around trash cans and patio tables in late summer
What we do
Four steps, in this order
Most nests are treated in one visit. Nests inside walls may need a second visit and a repair we don't do.
- 01
Step 1: Inspect
We find where the nest is and where the insects go in, from a distance.
- 02
Step 2: Identify
We tell you what you have, and whether it's a nest we can treat.
- 03
Step 3: Treat
We treat the nest with the right protective gear, and tell you what we can't reach.
- 04
Step 4: Prevent
We seal the opening once the nest is inactive, and tell you what draws them back.
Your part
Before and after the visit
Before we come
Keep children and pets indoors during the visit
Don't spray the nest or block the opening
Tell us where you've seen the insects go in
After we leave
Keep away from the nest area until we say it's clear
Expect to see a few stragglers for a day or two
Call if activity continues after that
Questions
Questions about this visit
What if someone is stung?
If someone has trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or dizziness after a sting, call 911.
Can you remove the nest?
We treat the nest first. Once it's inactive we can take down what we can reach. A nest inside a wall stays in the wall, and we tell you what repair it may need.
What if the pests come back?
Call the number. If the pest we treated for comes back within 60 days of a visit, we return and treat the same areas at no charge. That covers the pests named on your service report. It doesn't cover pests we didn't treat for, or entry points we asked you to seal that stay open. Plan customers get return visits between scheduled visits for as long as the plan is active.
