Pest control in Sacramento
Rats and mice in Sacramento homes
In older Sacramento neighborhoods with mature trees, roof rats are the ones that reach attics. They use branches, fences and wires like a road.
Mice come in through gaps as small as a pencil is wide, usually at ground level. Traps without sealing only treat the ones already inside.
So we start with the building: where it gets in, and what it climbs to get there.
Signs you have it
- Scratching or running sounds in the attic or walls at night
- Droppings along baseboards, in cabinets or in the garage
- Gnawed food packaging or pet food bags
- Greasy rub marks along walls and fence tops
What we do
Four steps, in this order
A rodent job is usually two visits: one to seal and set, one to check and collect. Larger jobs take more.
- 01
Step 1: Inspect
We walk the roofline, vents, pipes, garage door and foundation, and look at what touches the roof.
- 02
Step 2: Identify
We tell you whether it's rats or mice from what we find, because the traps and the entry points differ.
- 03
Step 3: Treat
We seal the entry points we can reach and set traps where the activity is. Sealing comes first.
- 04
Step 4: Prevent
We tell you which branches to trim and what to store off the ground. We check the traps on a return visit.
Your part
Before and after the visit
Before we come
Put pet food and birdseed in sealed containers
Clear a path to the attic hatch and the garage walls
Keep children and pets out of the rooms with traps
After we leave
Leave traps where we set them until we collect them
Don't move or reseal anything we've opened for inspection
Trim the branches we pointed out back from the roof
Questions
Questions about this visit
Do you use poison?
We start with sealing and traps. If a bait station is the right tool, we tell you where it goes, what it's for and how long it stays, and we follow the label.
Who cleans up the droppings?
We can tell you how to do it safely, or we can do it as a separate job. Wet it first and wipe; don't sweep or vacuum it dry.
What if the pests come back?
Call the number. If the pest we treated for comes back within 60 days of a visit, we return and treat the same areas at no charge. That covers the pests named on your service report. It doesn't cover pests we didn't treat for, or entry points we asked you to seal that stay open. Plan customers get return visits between scheduled visits for as long as the plan is active.
